On my journey as a Christian, I’ve learned that seeking to please God brings joy not only to Him but also to my soul. Recently, during a quiet time of reflection, I asked God, “What does it look like when I please you and make your heart sing?” Through this contemplative moment, I uncovered several insights that have deeply impacted my spiritual life.
The first thing that brings joy to God is seeking Him first. Matthew 6:33 reminds us, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Prioritizing time with God sets the foundation for a fulfilling life.
Next, I considered whether I trust God in the face of my fears and obstacles. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Trusting God transforms our perspective on challenges, reminding us that He is in control.
Another essential practice is allowing compassion to flow from me before frustration. Colossians 3:12 instructs us to “put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.” When we respond with compassion, we reflect God’s heart to those around us.
Resting in God’s presence is also vital. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” In times of turmoil, resting in His presence reassures us that He holds our future.
Finally, I realized the importance of keeping my eyes focused on Him. Hebrews 12:2 urges us to “look to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.” By fixing our gaze on Christ, we cultivate a deeper relationship with Him.
As I reflect on these principles, I challenge each of us to evaluate our spiritual journey. Are there areas where you can grow in seeking, trusting, and loving God more deeply? Embracing these practices can lead to a life that truly pleases Him, aligning our hearts with His will.
